Bobby McKinney began as an instructor working under Coach Willie Inman of Western Branch High School at his baseball camps in 1980 while still in high school.

After finishing a college playing career that included 2 years at Chowan College 1982-84 and Christopher Newport College 1984-1986.

In 1987, Bobby began coaching a collegiate age team in the Tidewater Summer League. It was through this association that he developed numerous working relationships with college coaches and professional scouts.

It was in 1989, Bobby began his affiliation with the Pittsburgh Pirates as a scout under Leland Maddox the area supervisor. Bobby remained a scout with the Pirates until 2010 at which time he began working under Area Supervisor Billy Best of the Atlanta Braves.

Over the past 25 years Bobby has formulated and built a successful program that includes summer development teams, an indoor training center, and personal training clients.

These program’s successes include:

Over 1300 players that have moved on the play college baseball.

Over 140 players who have signed professional baseball contracts.

With 38 players making it to the Major League level. (as of Oct 2014)

Evaluation of over 100,000 high school age players.

Players from our programs have received over 5 million dollars in scholarships both academic and athletic over the last 25 years.

Bobby’s extensive knowledge, positive philosophy and advice about the college recruiting process, makes him a keynote speaker at numerous college baseball camps and recruiting seminars, providing a positive message and “no nonsense” advice about the college recruiting process.

In 1998, Bobby authored “A Guide to College Baseball and Beyond”. A reference book for players and parents on how to successfully navigate the recruiting process.

In 2003, Bobby began working with Perfect Game USA as an evaluator and coordinator of events in the Mid Atlantic region. He remained with the organization working events throughout the country until 2006.

In 2008, Bobby developed, a web based business that runs skills combines and showcase events for high school age players. is a vital resource used by college coaches during the recruiting process of potential college athletes.

In 2010, Bobby launched , a premium content web site that provides in depth scouting reports, evaluations, and high school player ratings to the amateur and professional baseball world.


Jimmy Anderson – A 1994 9th round draft pick, out of Western Branch High School, by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Jimmy enjoyed a 13 year professional baseball career with 6 seasons at the Major League Level with Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs, and Boston Red Sox.

Modest about his accomplishments, Jimmy faced many of greatest hitters in the game including Tony Gwynn, Barry Bonds, Albert Pujols, Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, Chipper Jones, Mike Piazza, David Wright, Jeff Bagwell, Craig Biggio, Ken Griffey Jr, Barry Larkin, Vladamir Guerrero, Derek Jeter, Alex Rodgriquez, Raphel Palmiro, to name just a few.

Jimmy also is the proud owner of a 2004 World Series ring that he earned as a member of the Boston Red Sox pitching staff.

In 2007 Jimmy began personal training of pitchers with McKinney Baseball

He has been an asset as an instructor with his major league experience and ability to convey his knowledge to athletes.

In 2009 Jimmy took over managerial duties of the Mid Atlantic Pirates Scout Team. A travel team consisting of high school players interested in pursuing baseball at the collegiate level. This team maintains a schedule from June through October traveling throughout the country competing and showcasing players’ talent at many top colleges and universities.
